Things really came together for this stunning engagement session at Fort Williams Park here in Portland, Maine. Not only did the weather gods cooperate with us, clearing the skies after several gloomy, rainy days, but we were also able to meet up with Zoe and Cody right as they were coming into town, and right before we were leaving for our own pre-wedding honeymoon!
While they're getting married next year on Peaks Island here in Maine, Zoe and Cody currently live in Colorado. So what's up with the 'destination' wedding location and the late summer visit to the Portland area? Well, the couple and both their families are originally from northeast, and Zoe actually grew up spending her summers vacationing on Peaks Island with her parents. This most recent trip brought both families together just about a year out from the big day!
As you can imagine, Zoe and her family were quite familiar with Portland Head Light and Fort Williams Park, as it sits just about within eyesight of Peaks Island. Cody and his parents, however, had never visited the park or seen the iconic lighthouse. So guess what? The whole crew came along for the ride, and while we were out shooting, the parents broke out some drinks and explored on their own!
We had an amazing time with these two, and after cheersing beers on the rocky shoreline they were all in on adventuring around on some of the more sketchy landscape portions of Fort Williams! Luckily no one slipped in a tide pool or lost a phone between the rocky crevasses, and we kept the session going until our third warning from the guards that the park was closing up for the night!
We are super excited with how the final images turned out, and can't wait for what is sure to be a stunning wedding on the island next year!
